Nearly all men’s hair trends include some variation of a fade. And while we love a well-blended fade as much as the next guy (and the one next to him, and the one next to him), there’s more out there to explore. So before you ask your barber to give you the same haircut as every man you’ve seen in the past year, check out these styles that are not the fade.
At one point in time, the combover was the men’s hair trend that everyone made fun of – and now it’s easily one of the most popular styles of the year. Ah, how we love a good underdog story (especially one that looks this good – yes we’re talking to you, JT.)
The Crew Cut – AKA the dad hairstyle – is back in full force this season. Next to a Hard-Part Pompadour, it looks quite conservative, but we find it charming and minimalistic. Plus, it’s a great alternative for men with thin locks who may not be able to achieve the thickness and volume required for trends like Quiff or Combover.
The stark contrast between the shaved sides and the flow at the top is bold and sexy. We definitely prefer it with a nicely groomed beard like this one.

Even women’s hair trends have hopped on board with the slicked back, wet look. If you’ve got long enough hair to pull it off, you have no excuse not to buy a jar of hair paste – like now.
The best thing about this trend is that you don’t have to sacrifice your length. You can rock it with a long, lustrous flow or a shaved sides, long top look just the same.
